The children of the Ray of Light Foundation were given an opportunity to meet the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri.Narendra Modi Ji on 28.07.2022 at Chennai.

The Ray of Light Foundation was started 20 years ago with the goal of offering full financial support for children with cancer who come from the lower socio-economic strata of society. We have supported 210 children so far and 85% of them are alive and well.

The Honorable Prime Minister kindly consented to meet 9 of our survivors on his recent visit to Chennai.

I was overwhelmed by the love and affection he showered on our children. He even invited them to Delhi to his house for lunch. His incredible warmth and concern for the cause of the children with cancer moved me.

He was happy to see how well the children were, considering what they had been through.

He spoke to each and every one of them and asked about their ambitions in life. One 8 year old little boy said that he wanted to become a scientist- a space scientist. To him the Honorable Prime Minister replied, since this is the 75 th year of independence – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, India is going to launch 75 satellites in space with inputs from school children.

The children presented him with a picture drawn by one of them. He was very happy with this precious gift. I was moved by his kindness and I will treasure memories of this meeting forever.
